Note:
The recent death of Merce Cunningham is a pretty good reason to moan over the lost art of selecting music worthy of the dance. But, in a small yet significant way, choreographer and composer Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet renews this tradition. For Magloire's Dreams, his score is provided by the dancers' own soundtrack (squeaky pointe shoes included). He further explores the interrelationship between dancer and musician in Moments, and five ballerinas delicately maneuver Webern's Four Pieces for Violin and Piano with silence. Also on the program is an unnamed ballet by Constantine Baecher, an American dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, with music by former-dancer-turned-composer Martin Stauning.
