The full, English title of Stella Simon's Hande is Hands: The Life and Loves of the Gentler Sex. Made in tandem with Miklos Bandy, the experimental short charts the adventures of a feminist in Weimar Berlin, shuffling then-vogue styles in photography. It's just one of the three films that Sabrina Chap enlivens with her propulsive sound at tonight's Cinema 16 lineup. The other two titles are film pioneer W.K.L. Dickson's 7 Annabelle Dances and Dances, a 1894-97 series featuring Annabelle Moore's skirt-manipulating antics, and Gina Carducci's Stone Welcome Mat, an incredible look at memory and famiglia.

Cinema 16 says:

Sabrina Chap's got classical piano skills, the ballad lyrics of Tom Waits, the onstage antics of Phyllis Diller and the voice of a whiskey angel. Her sets are a ragtime stompin' good time, full of laughs, heartbreaks, and just plain good songwriting. Since moving to New York, she has performed at a variety of musical venues, such as Rockwood Music Hall, Bar 169, Vivaldi Café, Sidewalk Café and Bar 4. She has done a solo tour of England, Scotland and Germany, as well as completing a tour through Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium with Argentinian songwriter, Agustina Mancinelli. Sabrina will be scoring Hande by Stella Simon & Miklos Bandy, 7 Annabelle Dances and Dances by W.K.L. Dickson, William Heise & James White, and Stone Welcome Mat by Gina Carducci.
