“The Barefoot Theatre hosts a double celebration tonight. Their 70/70 Project, a worldwide festival featuring 70 plays by playwright Israel Horovitz, comes to an end just as the playwright celebrates his 71st. The final work is Unexpected Tenderness, written in 1994. A memory play, the adult Roddy Stern looks back on his troubled relationship with his father. This staged reading is directed by Terry Kinney, a founding member of Chicago's Steppenwolf, and features Barefoot regulars Lynn Cohen, Anna Chlumsky, and Sol Freider.”
Barefoot Theatre Co. says:
Ongoing since opening on March 31st, 2009, a year-long, worldwide festival celebrating Israel Horovitz's 70th Birthday with 70 of his plays. As Organizer and Executive Producer, the Barefoot Theatre Company leads over 50 theater companies from around the globe including: France, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Scandinavia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Korea, Romania, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Israel and the United States of America with readings, staged readings and fully staged productions of 70 plays by award-winning playwright Israel Horovitz.
