1953, Jack Arnold, U.S., 81 minutes
Based on an original screen treatment by Ray Bradbury, this was one of the first films to not ascribe evil intentions to alien visitors. It was also part of the golden era of 3-D filmmaking.
Introduced by S.C. Butler
S.C. Butler grew up in New York City in the middle of the last century, when fantasy, science fiction, and comics represented the Filene's basement of entertainment. Now, in slightly altered form, they occupy the penthouse. Despite his parents' and teachers' fears, Butler has been able to put his many years as a fan of all things genre to use: He is the author of The Stoneways Trilogy: Reiffen's Choice, Queen Ferris, and The Magicians' Daughter, all from Tor Books.
