Joelle Wallach will interview. Lyricist Frank Loesser's five great Broadway musicals—Where's Charley?, Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella, Greenwillow and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying—are not only different from one another, but each was also a departure from the theater of its day. Over the course of his creative life, Loesser wrote the lyrics to more than 700 songs by composers such as Jules Styne, Hoagy Carmichael, Burton Lane and Arthur Schwartz. His works include "On a Slow Boat to China," "Two Sleepy People," "Heart and Soul," "I Don't Want to Walk Without You," "Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year," and the 1948 Academy Award winner "Baby, It's Cold Outside." |
