The Metropolitan Museum of Art says…

Come enjoy a Sunday at the Met! This afternoon’s events explore the fascinating world in which aristocratic Victorian women experimented with photocollage in the 1860s and 1870s. Their whimsical and fantastical compositions captured an era of intellect, creativity, and sharp wit. Speakers include Elizabeth Siegel, Associate Curator of Photography at The Art Institute of Chicago, and Ann Bermingham, professor in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of California, Santa Barbara. 2 p.m. in the Museum's Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium.

This event accompanies the special exhibition Playing with Pictures: The Art of Victorian Photocollage, on view through May 9.
