After bagging an Oscar Sunday night for best documentary, we're hoping even more attention will be paid to The Cove, an intense (often disturbing) look at dolphin poaching and hunting in Taiji, Japan. Following the doc, stay for a panel discussion with director Louie Psihoyos, producer Ric O'Barry, and Times environmental reporter Andrew Revkin.

Asia Society and Museum says…

In a remote, glistening cove, surrounded by barbed wire and "Keep Out" signs, lies a dark reality. It is here, under cover of night that the fishermen of Taiji, Japan, driven by a multi-billion dollar dolphin entertainment industry and an underhanded market for mercury-tainted dolphin meat, engage in an unseen hunt. The nature of what they do is so chilling — and the consequences are so dangerous to human health — they go to great lengths to halt anyone from seeing it.

Join us for a film screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary The Cove on March 9, 2010 at Asia Society. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Louie Psihoyos and Ric O'Barry, and moderated by New York Times environment reporter Andrew Revkin.
