Singer-banjoist Sam Amidon's repertoire is made up of re-arranged American folk songs, a skill on which he proves himself to be a unique talent, drawing simultaneously on his experiences growing up a child of folk musicians in Vermont and his more recent work in New York with the experimental indie-rock bands Doveman and Stars Like Fleas. He's here to celebrate the release of I See the Sign (Mar 29, 2010), his second album on Bedroom Community, an Icelandic label co-founded by Nico Muhly.
Amidon is joined by the much sought after Thomas Bartlett, who leads the band Doveman and has collaborated with the likes of Antony and the Johnsons, The National, Iron and Wine, Yoko Ono and David Byrne, starting the night off with a rare solo set - likely to include some special guests.
