Maya Beiser, hailed by The New Yorker as a "cello goddess," headlines an uncommon double bill at Le Poisson Rouge on Thursday, October 29 (8 pm; doors at 7). Maya will perform a provocative mixture of landmark new-music scores and classic-rock reinterpretations, including a world premiere and two New York premieres. She will be preceded by a rare live performance from film composer/keyboardist Carter Burwell, leading a chamber-rock ensemble in the world premiere of Blood Complex, incorporating music from his scores for the Coen Brothers.
