Children from Haiti's Maranatha School and Orphanage lost pretty much everything to the devastating earthquake four months ago. One hundred days after the quake, they created 209 pieces of remarkable art, with help from filmmaker Kevin O'Hanlon (also the owner of Rogue Space Gallery) and Haitian-born artist Richard Laurent, who brought the students canvasses, paint, and brushes as a form of therapy and relief. Now, all their artwork is on display (and for sale) as part of a benefit auction and exhibition.

Note:

The auction on the 27th is private and you must RSVP to Haiti@RogueSpaceChelsea.com. The works are on view for the public April 28 through May 1.

Art for Haiti says:

On March 10th, members of Life for the World, FilmsOnArtists director Kevin O’Hanlon and Haitian-born artist Richard Laurent traveled to Haiti equipped with 100 tents, food, aid supplies, 200 canvasses, paints and brushes. Over the course of a week, they spent time with the young students of the Maranatha Orphanage and Primary School, where they shared stories, lifted spirits, and painted. For many of the children, it was their first time painting. These beautiful and inspiring works will be auctioned at Rogue Space Gallery, where 100% of the proceeds will go to rebuilding the school. Telling the story of each piece, every painting will be exhibited alongside a portrait of its creator. The evening will also feature a special performance by the Mama Foundation Choir. This once in a lifetime exhibition will then be open free to the public for a four day exclusive engagement, where additional donations will be encouraged. ART FOR HAITI, a benefit auction and exhibition to rebuild the Maranatha Orphanage and Primary School in Source Matales, Haiti. The show, which features art created by the Haitian students of the devastated school, will debut with an exclusive benefit
