Neon legwarmers, Vespa scooters, and rising from the dead. These are all things that come to mind at the utterance of the word resurrection. But resurrectine? This is something new, kind of. This is Moby Dick re-enacted via low-budget home video. This is your reflection morphed into that of Andy Warhol. This is flash animation joining the looting of Iraq's antiquities with a game of Three-Card Monte. This is escape from death, apocalypse management, and the Cheshire Cat. With work by Eteam, Leon Golub, and Hannah Wilke, expect no less than a transformative experience. In addition to rebirth, a visit to the gallery also includes the Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Glockenspiel Addendum CD, free.

Ronald Feldman Gallery says…

The Ronald Feldman Gallery says:

Resurrectine is a large-scale group show of more than fifty artists. The selection of artworks embraces the notion of transformation – the creative act of taking form, appearance, nature, character, or meaning, and making it new again. The title of the exhibition is based on the name of the fictive elixir which restores life as imagined by Raymond Roussel in his 1914 novel Locus Solus and “rebottled” by the conceptual artist Terry Fox in 2007. In the spirit of the fanciful conceit of Roussel’s potion, the theme introduces new ways of thinking and the power of creativity.
