Through collage and digital alteration of fashion and weekly magazines, artist Sali Taylor explores the intrinsic paradox in the roles women are expected to play in contemporary culture: seductress vs. feminist, ambitious vs. humble, careerist vs. home-bound. Not one to shun her subversive inclinations, Taylor, a self-described "fauxtographer," takes her work beyond the gallery, slipping her altered images into magazines on store racks and in the waiting rooms of dentists. Has time spent waiting ever been so provocative?
