Through video, spoken word, and hologram, the artists in Word-Less strive to make us aware of the way we communicate, and the mutable nature of language. Among the many artists participating, Min Oh explores the correlation between phenomena and behaviors. See her award-winning Duelers, part of her thirteen public secrets. Brendan Fernandes explores what happens when sounds become abstracted through repetition, while Roxana Perez-Mendez explores the uncertainty in the immigrant experience using high/low multimedia such as Pepper's Ghost holograms, simple projections and readymades. Set your preconceptions aside. You may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it's not so bad when what you do or say is taken the wrong way.

EFA Project Space says…

EFA says:

Word-Less presents work that purposefully denies established forms of communication. Through performance, photography, video, sculpture, and installation, the artists in the exhibition seek alternative ways to articulate their narratives. With its deliberate disconnect, the title of the show emphasizes and plays on ideas of misinterpretation, and redefinition. The artists propose modes of abstract communication, both commenting on and circumventing the failures of hierarchical structure in language.
