“Though the album was announced in spring 2009, Dark Night of the Soul, a unique collaboration by Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse, and David Lynch is finally released July 13. Further distinguishing this decidedly strange and dark effort are the guest vocalists including James Mercer of the Shins, Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, Black Francis, Iggy Pop, and Suzanne Vega. Linkous, who committed suicide early this year, wasn't comfortable singing. Capturing the album's dark themes of pain, revenge and twisted dreams is master of the macabre David Lynch, who took a series of surreal photographs, which are on view at the gallery for this special exhibit and are also in a book included in a deluxe edition of the album. For a foretaste, listen to the album in full, or check out their exclusive trailer. But visit the artfully trippy interactive website for a truly unusual experience.”
Note:
RSVP is necessary for tonight's preview.
The Morrison Hotel Gallery says:
