The cosmopolitan city "where East meets West" heads decidedly west to Central Park for Istanbulive II, a day-long celebration of the music of Turkey. And don't just expect traditional folk music — although the ney, oud, and saz should abound. The concert also features modern Turkish rock and pop; check out rockers Duman and bona fide pop star Kenan Dogulu, in particular.

Central Park SummerStage says…

SummerStage says:

The second annual Istanbulive concert coincides with the city of Istanbul being officially hailed as 2010’s European Capital of Culture. Accenting this prestigious honor Istanbulive II will feature, for five hours, several of Turkey’s best and brightest artists performing a myriad of sounds within the east-meets-west mold including Turkish rock, jazz, dance, pop and folk music. Presented in association with Serdar Ilhan & Mehmet Dede with support from the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism.
