“This festival, presented in association with Middlebury College, is a nice cerebral alternative to sweet summer programming. All three plays are about finding answers despite tremendous odds. David Rabe's A Question Of Mercy dramatizes Dr. Richard Selzer's essays and journals on his care for an AIDS patient and his partner. The outsider is always at the epicenter of Howard Barker's writings; Gary the Thief and Plevna: Meditations on Hatred are two poems adapted for the stage further igniting this theme. British mathematician,WWII codebreaker, and pioneering computer scientist Alan Turing never received proper recognition in his lifetime because he was gay, but Snoo Wilson examines this enigmatic genius' life and death in Lovesong of the Electric Bear.”
