The Spiegeltent at Bard's annual SummerScape boasts an interior design that would make any Upper East Side apartment-dweller swoon with jealousy: carved wood surfaces, parquet floors, beveled mirrors, stained-glass windows, velvet canopies and so on. Plus, for seven weeks, this upstate oasis houses a range of wild and unique performances, ranging from the sword-swallowing burlesque of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus and the "old-school country" tunes of the Minivans to the hand-sewn puppets and original scores of Jennifer Levine's kid-friendly/mom-loved Princess Moxie and all-out, late-night dance parties. SummerScape's eclectic offerings certainly warrant the two-hour drive from the city.
