"Crossing the Line" lives up to its name with these two site-specific presentations — though attendees won't know the exact details of the performance venues until their reservations are confirmed. This theatrical spontaneity has its origins in medieval morality plays, and while there is no "Everyman" or "Death" figure, both works deal with big questions. Denis Lachaud's Hetero receives its first performances in English in a Soho apartment. Using a staged reading to further create intimacy, the all-male cast ponders what is different about the sexes. Marie Darrieussecq's The Sea Museum is also performed in English for the first time — in the abandoned Atlantic Avenue tunnel, where audiences join refugees seeking safety in a deserted maritime museum.

Note:

Sea Museum audience members are asked to wear sneakers or boots (leave the high heels and flip-flops home), and to bring a flashlight and a sweater. Be advised: you're also required to climb down a manhole and walk on uneven ground.
