Jamie Lidell is a consummate showman. He's a fantastic and energetic performer, whose charisma is matched only by the sequins on the showy tuxes he often wears. Tonight the soulster performs in support of May's release, Compass, which includes contributions from Feist, Beck (who oversaw production), and Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear. The album is much more eclectic than Jim or his debut Multiply, so expect a similarly hyperactive, borderline-ADD stage show, mashing funk, pop, and R&B. Be sure to turn up early for local openers Bear Hands, themselves surprisingly soulful indie-rockers with a penchant for dramatic percussion. They're touring in support of their first full-length, Burning Bush Supper Club (out November 2).

The Bowery Presents says…

Jamie Lidell hasn’t stopped moving. He’s like a shark. Albeit a stone cold funked-up, sonically obsessed, romantically soulful killer shark. And he isn’t going to stop. No, he won’t stop. Please don’t ask him to. Just get out of the way, enjoy the spectacle and the soundtrack.
