“Nothing comes easy in Nick Starr's The Awesome Dance. This moving play for four actors is divided into four scenes, each observing how families confront spirituality, death, birth, and renewal. Like life, every vignette is a loaded question. There are no clues; the only link between scenes is a rubber plant, known for its resiliency. The heightened, deliberately artificial atmosphere created by Starr and director Malinda Sorchi is nonetheless painful and heartfelt. The multitasking cast of Julie Cavaliere, Rachel Cornish, Caitlin Talbot, and Dileep Rao is a strong one that moves effortlessly. You might recognize Rao from Inception, which dealt with reality on an epic scale. Awesome Dance is ambitious in its own way.”
