Questions about psychedelics are generally met with myths and hysteria as colorful or horrifying as some of the trips themselves. It would be naïve, however, to ignore the impact psychedelics have played on history — in medicine and spirituality, history, and culture — as recently as Burning Man! Ready to set the facts straight, Horizons suggests that a "renaissance in psychedelic research and dialogue has taken shape." If this is all sounding a little too Hog Farm, check out the roster: when they welcome serious MDs and PhDs from NYU, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, and around the world, it's hard to doubt the psychedelic revolution. Tie dye remains optional, so to set the mood there's a Friday-night reception featuring Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder John Perry Barlow, and Don Lattin, author of The Harvard Psychedelic Club. Sounds like a trip worth taking.
