“Street-art pioneer and Pop art icon Kenny Scharf exhibits his new series, a collection of underwater scenes, at both of Paul Kasmin's Chelsea galleries. Included in the show at Kasmin is Oil Painting inspired by the catastrophic BP oil spill, which occurred while Scharf was working on the new paintings in Brazil. And for those of you still tied to his earlier work, you'll be happy to know that over 30 of Scharf's donut works are also on display. Currently, Scharf's work can also be seen around the city — his mural is on view at the corner of Bowery and Houston in SoHo (previously home to Shepard Fairey's mural), and he's just been commissioned by Gatescapes to design works for the project's 100 shutters on storefronts around the city. Don't miss out. Everything, it seems, is coming up Scharf.”
