These days, there seems to be interest in street occupation in New York City. First there's the protest on Wall Street, and now Art in Odd Places is temporarily taking over 14th Street with its annual festival of public art. From Avenue C to the Hudson River, over 60 artists are set to present work dealing with the theme of ritual. From ceremony and myth to superstition and obsession, artists have created their own interpretations of the theme and are expected to perform random, many interactive, acts over the course of the ten-day event. So if while strolling down 14th Street you see someone kissing a tree or people dancing in amoeba cocooned costumes, don't be afraid — it's just folks getting their art on.
