“Wim Wenders pays poetic tribute to friend and influential German choreographer Pina Bausch using 3D technology. On the surface, it seems an unlikely choice for the art-house dweller behind evocative films such as Wings of Desire, Faraway So Close, and Buena Vista Social Club, but 3D proves an exquisite way to showcase Bausch's expressive body of work and has Wenders swearing off 2D, at least for now. Composed of archival footage, interviews with dancers, and reincarnations of the avant-gardist's searing productions, the documentary sublimely displays Bausch's contributions, and reminds us of the horrible loss the arts suffered when she passed.”
