What do the Who and LL Cool J have in common? Besides helping shape the street fashion, art, and even politics of their respective generations with their genre-bashing, wholly inventive musical visions, that is? They are among the parade of alt-culture icons that passed before the lens of legendary music photographer Janette Beckman, whose career spanned continents and decades in relentless pursuit of the cutting edge of music-driven youth culture. Morrison Hotel Gallery showcases the rich and diverse world of fine art photographs both of and by rock, blues, and punk's greatest legends.

Morrison Hotel Gallery says…

A joint exhibition of photographs documenting the monumental punk and hip hop movements of the 70s and 80s. On the joint exhibition Corio and Beckman say, "This exhibition is the first time we have been able to show our Punk and Hip Hop images together - and may be the first time that both music genres have been seriously exhibited alongside each other. Whereas photographs of other musicians from the 1970's to the 1990's are often shown in galleries, it is refreshing to see that there are also exciting images from these two important genres that changed the world of music. We hope this exhibition will help viewers to realize how important Punk and Hip Hop are to the history of music and photography."
