“Marilyn Minter is an art star now (and one of our faves), after a triumphant showing at the 2006 Whitney Biennial. But she didn't just start churning out evocative, oversized and oversaturated close-ups of glittery, glamorous, sexual women. In the '80s, Minter was exploring similar sexual and feminist themes through her Big Girls/Little Girls series and Porn Grids. The first contrasts collages of celebrity starlets with shots of innocent young girls; the second is a pro-sex, feminist look at "the money shot" in its many forms.
