“Adapted from Lionel Shirver's best-selling novel, Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay's We Need to Talk About Kevin places us inside the head of Eva, a free-spirited, globe-trotting travel author who finds herself in the middle of motherhood. But all is not sweetness and light in this suburban plunge, as Eva's spawn has sociopathic tendencies. Tilda Swinton delivers another brilliant, award-worthy performance as Eva, and rising star Ezra Miller is convincing as Kevin's fiendish teenage incarnation. Leaving much to the viewer's discernment, this colorfully stylized non-linear thriller, which features a capricious score by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, has a sharp bite.”
