“How much do you really know about Buddhism? Just what your hippie roommate espouses? Yeah, that's not gonna cut it. Get enlightened with Crazy Wisdom, a documentary that shares the story of how Buddhism came to the West — paying particular attention to Tibetan lama Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the "bad boy of Buddhism." This is a guru who drank (that's taboo) and slept with his students (um, also taboo). How does this exactly jive with the tenets of spiritual Buddhism? Apparently it didn't bother Allen Ginsberg, a devout follower, or Pema Chodron, one of his disciples. Get facts and jumping-off points for further discussion at this screening, followed by a talk with local spiritual bad ass Elena Brower. In the indelible words of En Vogue, "free your mind, and the rest will follow."”
Note:
Elena speaks only following the Saturday 4pm screening. We highly recommend making it out for this one, as they'll add a lot of insight to the film.
