Cue the lasers and smoke machines: MoMA transforms into a sleek, soaring electro dance club for tonight's PopRally event. At the helm is Brooklyn-based duo Blondes. Set to release their self-titled double CD debut via RVNG Intl in February, Zach Steinman and Sam Haar specialize in ambient dance music informed by Manuel Gottsching, Giorgio Moroder, and Gavin Russom. Mobilizing synths, sequencers, and drum machines, the nimble-knobbed pair's atmospheric jams can be equally savored in a club setting as well as through a pair of headphones. After a careful survey of the Museum's space, Blondes have created a site-specific sound and video installation that aims to inspire partygoers at entry. In addition to their handiwork and hypnotic beats, the evening includes alcohol, a DJ set by Juan MacLean and exclusive viewing of Contemporary Art from the Collection, Thing/Thought Fluxus Editions, Project 96: Harris Epaminonda, and Sanja Ivekovic: Sweet Violence.
