This class is aimed at those who want to learn how to use the medium of pastel. The student will either work from life (figure or still life) or bring in one of their own paintings or photos that they wish to convert into a pastel. The class will cover the fundamentals of the medium: the different surfaces and gesso grounds, the benefits of an under painting and the different types of pastels available. The class will also cover basic color theory and composition, and instruction will be given on the protection and framing of your pastel. The goal is to equip the artist with a sound knowledge of all the possibilities of this increasingly popular medium.
