The BBC's prestigious Sound of 2012 list includes a thirsty young band that currently has our ear aflutter, Dry the River. The London-based outfit fronted by the talented Norwegian-born singer/songwriter Peter Liddle, will likely find acceptance among fans of Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver. Described by Liddle as being "folky gospel music performed by a post-punk band," the quintet's sound effortlessly undulates between pastoral and thunderous. They also have a secret sonic weapon in their violin-playing member, Will Harvey. Currently, the band has done a string of shows, mostly in the UK, and have a few EPs and some stray mp3s floating about the Internet. Shallow Bed, their first full-length, is scheduled to hit US record stores via RCA sometime in the spring. A hotly tipped band that can deliver an incredibly passionate performance, we predict Dry the River will have a flood of fans in no time. Brooklyn represents with an opening set by the Loom.
