“Sex, drugs, and... botany? Plants will never seem the same after Jim Findlay's Botanica, an original, mesmerizing, and disturbing piece of experimental insanity. Two researchers and a janitor are sealed in a terrarium running tests on plants to see how they react to pain, affection, threats, and love. As usual, 3LD has created a technologically innovative set including 200 plants hooked up to machines, cameras, microphones, and monitors that show the plants' reactions in real time. By the end of the show, the three humans fully lose themseleves in a narcotic spore-eating, plant-sex obsessed frenzy. Bizarre? Definitely. Forgettable? Not a chance.”
