Love getting likes on Vimeo but would rather see a check in the mail? Got over 9000 views on YouTube but can't figure out how to cash in? This course will cover the opportunities for making money with web-video, turning your artistic hobby into a profitable pastime. During the session, we will identify the video contests, content buyers and resource platforms for making money from your video work. From nature b-roll clips to commercials for the newest energy drink, there is a wide range of topics and expected deliverables. We'll see that some projects require social-marketing while others may require a quick turnaround or a specific set of production criteria. Whether you've got your own Vimeo channel or are just thinking about exploring the video function on your DSLR, this is the class to be at if internet fame isn't your priority. Of course, if you end up making the next ad for Intel, who's to say you won't get famous in the process. Barry Pousman is formerly the Executive Producer at Rocketboom, an award winning video blog focused on Internet news and culture. Barry earned his B.A. in visual media with a concentration in documentary filmmaking from Emerson College in Boston. After college, he went on to serve with the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal where he founded an organization devoted to video and development in West Africa. Since living in New York, he has worked at Rocketboom as director, producer and eventually executive producer where he developed and consulted on two new web series for PBS.org, created original content for Vitamin Water at the Cannes Film Festival and directed sponsored content for Intel.
