“Brooklyn quintet My Best Fiend makes good by signing to indie British label Warp, home to Squarepusher, Grizzly Bear, and Aphex Twin, and releasing their debut In Ghostlike Fading. Likely fans of Spiritualized, My Best Fiend's testosterone-fueled guitar rock still has a hazy celestial quality. Tonight's record release party is their last New York hurrah before heading out to narcotize fans at SXSW and points European. Joining in the evening's festivities are Paul Duncan's avant-pop project, Warm Ghost, and TEEN, the all-girl, three-fifths sister-act formed by Here We Go Magic's Teeny Lieberson, which you can sample here. Since no party is truly complete without DJ support, No Ordinary Monkey swings in with some psychedelic disco.”

My Best Fiend's music inhabits a spacious, dreamlike world all its own, by turns unsettling and uplifting. Taking shape in the band’s Bushwick rehearsal space, the physical aura of the room seeps into the ambience of their songs. But more than the setting, it’s the interaction of the players that dictates the sound - creating a framework in which highly personal words become utterly universal sentiments.
