John Flansburgh and John Linnell, who make up the band They Might Be Giants, have always liked doing things their own way. They made their songs and demos available to fans for nearly two decades via an answering machine service called Dial-a-song. They've won a Grammy for their children's album No! and recorded another entirely about science (the song "the Blood-Mobile" explains how the circulatory system works). In addition to their forward-thinking, TMBG have cracked through to the mainstream charts, recorded 14 studio albums, and created the theme song for the Daily Show.
