Luckily for fans of the Wedding Present, when the question "where are they now?" comes up, the answer is "still inventing music." Sure, the players have changed, but with founding member and lyricist David Gedge at the helm, the spirit that sparked the British indie outfit's post-punk engine some 25 years ago still has a ferocious snarl. The band's eighth studio album, Valentina, due out March 20th via Scopitones, is another chapter in Gedge's never-ending duel with love. A Cliff Notes version can be found by listening to track "You Jane." Tonight, the band plays songs off their latest LP as well as revisits 1991, by performing their critically acclaimed third album, Seamonsters, in its entirety. Accompanying Gedge and gang on their musical time trip are Washington DC's the Jet Age and Tokyo four-piece Toquiwa.

(Le) Poisson Rouge says…

The Wedding Present will be touring in 2012 to promote their hugely anticipated eighth studio LP, their first for four years… but will also be playing their 1991 album ‘Seamonsters’ in full. ‘Seamonsters’ was their most successful album in North America… and the first to be recorded for them by Steve Albini (at Pachyderm Disc studios in Minnesota). North American audiences have been begging The Wedding Present to play this critically acclaimed album live ever since the band started their ‘classic album’ tours in 2007, so expectations are sky high.
