NYC is hardly wanting for museums, but none can approach Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Guggenheim for sheer architectural brilliance. It takes a special installation to work wonders in the rotunda, and some of the most memorable, transcendent shows of our museum-going lives — Cai Guo-Qiang, Claes Oldenburg, Matthew Barney — have been there.
