Japan Society is a multi-arts cultural center located on the east side of Midtown Manhattan, offering world class art exhibits, centuries-old and cutting-edge contemporary performing arts, classic film retrospectives and screenings of the hottest movies from Japan, dialogues between global leaders in business and policy, cultural lectures, workshops, family attractions, language classes and much more. Activities at Japan Society are set against a stunning backdrop of indoor gardens, a reflecting pool and a waterfall. Facilities include a 262-seat theater, art gallery, language center, and library. Japan Society's landmark building—located near the United Nations and a short walk from Grand Central Station—was designed by architect Junzo Yoshimura and opened in 1971 as the first building in New York City by a leading Japanese architect.
