Arto Lindsay 1Le Poisson Rouge
158 Bleecker St, New York, NY
Appearing tonight as part of Brasil Summerfest is the man dubbed the king of skronk, Arto Lindsay. Born in Virginia and raised in Brazil, Lindsay adopted New York as his home in the 1970s and went on to play in the seminal no-wave trio DNA, as well as the Lounge Lizards and Golden Palominos before birthing the late-'80s avant-pop group Ambitious Lovers with Peter Scherer. He's since enjoyed a healthy solo career and has been known to collaborate with the likes of They Might Be Giants, Animal Collective, John Zorn, David Byrne, Laurie Anderson, and Bill Frisell. Northern Spy recently released a compilation of his greatest hits, Encyclopedia of Arto Lindsay, which is a perfect portal to his musical soul. Also on the evening's bill are sonic adventurers Zs, and musical agitator Bigyuki.
