Editor's Note

A cultural historian, a hallucinogen expert, a conservator, a magician, and a palm reader all walk into a gallery. Sounds like the beginning to a joke, but in this case it's the key to a magical evening at MoMA where new light is shed on the work of late German artist Sigmar Polke. A truly complex and fickle figure, Polke yielded a body of work that found him dabbling in pretty much every genre that popped up during his lifetime. Tonight, you can hear what a group of experts believe is the meaning behind Polke's madness. The event, which is part of the PopRally series, features exclusive access to the exhibit Alibis: Sigmar Polke 1963-2010, as well as wine, beer and a DJ set in the museum's sculpture garden.
