Featuring films that take the road less traveled, the Rural Route Film Festival is a multi-day series that transports you to places outside the bustle of the city. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, this year's tour explores ancient pagan cultures and includes premieres, restored classics, and a curious assortment of shorts as well as live music and food from area top chefs. Opening with a 50th anniversary screening of Sergei Paradjanov’s mesmerizing Ukraine/Carpathian-set Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors; other highlights include the world premiere of renowned fashion casting director Daniel Peddle's Sunset Edge, a DCP restoration of the director’s cut of The Wicker Man (1973), Josephine Decker’s Butter on the Latch, and Matjaz Ivanisin’s Karpotrotter. Saturday features a performance by Brooklyn-based Iona Scottish Session Players, and the fest closes on Sunday night at with a screening of shorts at Brooklyn Grange's flagship green roof farm in Queens.
