LA-based painter Van Arno survived early fame in the Juxtapoz school of lowbrow art, and come out the other side a dedicated craftsman. Arno's influences range from the thick musculature, saturated palette, and dramatic perspective of Italian Renaissance painters, to the jaunty sexuality and cynical humor of underground comix, to the incisive wit of political satire and crowd-pleasing viscerality of lewd commerce.
