Baltimore-bred Celebration are all for the well-fitting name: as far as indie rock goes, their sound (think Animal Collective as a three-piece writing catchy songs) and shows are about as traditional as Christmas in March. Watching lead singer Katrina Ford storm her way through a crowd — a common occurrence — to whip them into an intense fury is akin to watching someone cannonball out of a pool of placid water. From Ford's bassy growl to David Bergander's one-step-off drumming and Sean Antanaitis' sharp-yet-psychedelic organ work, it's no wonder why this three-piece attracts a massive following and band-fans like TV on the Radio: their shows are part cabaret, part epiphany, and all fun.
