The indie darling's indie darlings, the Delgados made a string of ambitious, critically acclaimed albums. They also helped put other Scottish bands, such as Mogwai, on the map through their Chemikal Underground imprint — even if they themselves seemed to largely fly under the radar stateside. Since offering up Watch the Fireworks, the first solo outing to rise out of the group's quiet disbandment two years ago, Delgados singer and creative engine Emma Pollock has hit the road. By narrowing her scope and favoring a more stripped-down, straightforward pop sound over the quixotic orchestral arrangements of her old band, Pollock lets her bittersweet vocals and ear for hooks shine through that much more.
