Film: Shorts Norcal Waste Systems presents Music and Videos from the Dump

Norcal's Artist in Residence Program encourages SF residents to make concerted efforts to conserve the city's natural resources, beyond toting the coveted "I'm Not a Plastic" bag. The evening will kick off with short films created by five of the program's artists, including Banker White, Robin Lasser, Nomi Talisman, Don Ross, and Reddy Lieb. Following this, San Francisco Symphony Resident Conductor Benjamin Schwartz will lead the percussion section of the San Francisco Youth Symphony Orchestra in a performance of local composer Nathaniel Stookey's Junkestra. The usual cymbals and tambourines will be replaced with bottles, saws, birdcages, and other odds and ends taken from the trash, forming an inimitable sound that is anything but garbage.
