Film 11th International Latino Film Festival

With Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón entering the upper echelon of the Hollywood elite in recent years, a lot more attention has been paid to filmmakers south of the border. Now in its 11th year, the International Latino Film Festival brings yet another massive selection of Spanish-language films. This year, Diego Luna from Y tu mamá también (2001) premieres his directorial debut, J.C. Chávez, a documentary about the titular boxer. Other selections include Juan Mora Catlett's portrait of a 16th-century Purépecha heroine who lead the indigenous resistance against Spanish conquistadors, Peruvian director Eduardo Schuldt's answer to Pixar, and a host of other features and documentaries covering the zeitgeist of the Americas and beyond.
