White Magic's new Drag City EP, Dark Stars, further stakes out their idiosyncratic musical terrain: piano-driven ballads that swallow up various ethnographic influences and songs that simultaneously thunder and shiver. The band doesn't tour often, and Mira Billotte has one of the gutsiest voices in indie rock. Also on the bill is Cryptacize, ex-Deerhoof Chris Cohen's new project with Nedelle Torrisi and Michael Carreira.
