Artist Diane Covert compiled scores of X-rays and CT scans from Jerusalem's two largest hospitals as a response to the doublespeak surrounding acts of terrorism. The exhibition arrives as part of the photographer's ongoing effort to shed more light on the horrors of war, including its brutal physical effects. While the show is definitely more of a catalog than an aesthetic investigation, Covert does echo Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Francisco Goya's decrying of military atrocities. That the fractured bones and broken bodies should echo the protests of modernists serves as a grim reminder that the problems of the present are anything but new.
