TART has lined up a series of evenings that invoke the exploratory spirit and risk-taking programming of the late-night, cult British variety show So It Goes, hosted by the late Factory Records impresario Tony Wilson. In line with some of the show's more explosive guest performances (Iggy Pop, the Sex Pistols), CCA professor Julian Myers presents his Riot Show lecture: a collection of audio and video clips of concerts that descended into crowd-borne chaos, interspersed with his own contextualizing commentary. From Suicide to Guns N' Roses, Myers examines what happens when rock's (often staged) spectacle of aggression falls away, and real violence intrudes on the stage.
