Perched above a gloomy stretch of Market Street and bookended by roughed-up façades, the Luggage Store Gallery has weathered two decades as a respected venue and is looking (and booking) better than ever — despite bearing an at-times confusing moniker. But the best little cutting-edge art space in SOMA has helped numerous artists make it and, in doing so, has forged its name into an admirable metaphor over the years: like a well-made piece of luggage, good art stands the test of time. In tribute to both the gallery and those who've graced its walls, this 20th anniversary show boasts a roster studded with noteworthy names — including work from Tauba Auerbach, Chris Johanson, Claire Rojas, Nina Bovasso, and Jovi Schnell.
